In Keychat, the contact list is only saved locally and does not use a relay to store the contact information. Contact lists in chat applications are important private data for users and should only be known by the users themselves. The contact list should not be used for so-called social graph mining.

The chat ID used for publishing private notes is different from the post ID used for publishing public notes. These two should be completely separate; a user can have multiple chat IDs and multiple post IDs.

For post IDs, it can be publicly displayed who is being followed and who is following them. This can help establish a web of trust.
